Q: How do I obtain a copy of a traffic crash or boating accident report? A: The electronic process for requesting and obtaining a copy of a Missouri Uniform Crash Report (which includes crash reconstruction reports, photographs and videos) or Marine Accident Investigation Report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol is as follows:

1. Visit the Missouri State Highway Patrol's web page at https://statepatrol.dps.mo.gov/
2. Scroll down to "Popular Links" and select "Patrol Records Request"
3. Select "Traffic Crash Report Request " or "Boating Crash Report Request" under the Missouri State Highway Patrol Public Records Center heading.
Q: Is there a charge for reports? A: Yes. The cost for a copy of a Patrol investigated traffic crash or boating crash report is $6.00.

Additional fees apply for copies of reports of reconstructed crashes, photographs, certified copies of reports, photographs, crash data retrieval (CRD) electronic information, computer disk (CD) copies and electronic mapping data.
Q: Can I pay by credit card? A: When using the electronic request process mentioned in FAQ#1, requests may be paid either by check/money order or debit/credit card. If paying for request by check or money order, please provide invoice with payment and make payable to: DPS - Missouri State Highway Patrol Q: How can I contact the Patrol's Custodian of Records? A: You may email, mail, or fax your Public Records Request; however, using the Public Records Center is the preferred method for making a request. Please contact us at 573-526-6146 option 2, to discuss the best option for you when making a request.

The Custodian of Records office processes requests from the public for various department records with the exception of accident reports, reconstructions and accident related photographs, which are processed by the Patrol Records Division.

All requests for public records should be submitted in writing or online via the Public Records Center. The Public Records Center is used to submit public record requests, track request status, manage account information, download records, view invoices and pay on-line using a credit or debit card.
